TALLAHASSEE, FL — It's going to be a beautiful weekend. While chilly, there will be plenty of sunshine. We'll stay in the 60s with frosty mornings. Afternoon hours will be great if you have any outdoor plans. Below are some events happening around the Big Bend and South Georgia, Friday, February 6th-Sunday, February 8th.
Big Bend:
- Tallahasseee Highland Games: February 7th and 8th at Apalachee Regional Park. Saturday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.Attendees will be able to share a day filled with tradition, music, and strength. Admission is $6-$45; kids 12 and under get in free. VIP tickets are available.
- 5th Annual SGI ShrimpFest: February 7th from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy shrimp dishes, vibrant music, and shopping. Tickets are $5 for those 13+. Children 12 and under get in free.
- The Fuzzy Pineapple Festival. February 7th from 12:00-6:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy sweet treats, food vendors, and handmade goods. Admission is free.
South Georgia:
- Live Music Featuring Lizz Faith Live at Hubs & Hops Bike Shop and Taproom in Thomasville: February 6th from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
- Annual Father-Daughter Dance at The Patterson in Valdosta: February 6th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Ticket prices vary and are still available.
- Shrek the Musical in Thomasville: February 6th-8th at Brookwood School. Times vary. Tickets are still available and start off at $10 for students
- Free Story Time with Mr. Jack Hadley in Thomasville: February 7th from 11:00-11:30 a.m. at The Bookshelf. Bring your kiddos to read a story and celebrate Black history.
- 2nd Annual Black History Month Parade in Valdosta: February 7th from 12:00-1:30 p.m in Downtown Valdosta from Pinevale Elementary to MLK Monument. This community celebration will provide vibrant parade entries to honor Black artistry, achievements, and pride. All are welcome.
- Puppy Love Daddy-Daughter Dance in Thomasville: February 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Thomas University-Magnolia Campus. Attendees will enjoy dancing, hot cocoa, sweet treats, and memorable moments together. All proceeds directly support the animals at Thomasville Humane. Ticket prices vary and are still available.
